Special Interest Group in Child and Adolescent Psychology

Background

The Special Interest Group in Child and Adolescent Psychology was reformed following a meeting at the PSI conference in Ennis in 1997, and the inaugural meeting was held in March 1998. Since 1998, the group has run a very successful annual lecture series, as well as a half-day conference in conjunction with the group’s AGM.

Aims

The aims of the group include

  • to develop an awareness of child and adolescent issues within the psychology profession.
  • to promote child-centred practice and research.
  • to share experience, knowledge, resources and expertise and to develop a support network.
  • to use our knowledge to inform the public, policy makers and legislators of the needs of children and adolescents.
